Arrow GW and Dial up questions

Yes i know its been posted but i want a fresh one up, i have a buddy who is using dialup and yes the load times take forever but i was wondering, does he have to download the same ammount of files every time he loads the same area? or after 1 download of an area the next time, in the future it will be faster unless they update something in it.

i cant see people playing this game if they have to wait 10-15 mins per zone

Anywho any feedback be great.

It should be exactally like a cable connection, meaning it downloads it to your computer directly so it doesnt have to update everytime. I just started posting on the forums so I haven't read the past posts but that would be my view on it. Take it as downloading a file directly to your comp with dial-up its still there when you go offline.

Default Hey

I use dial-up and yes it is a pain in the butt to download the files per zone. The first time I started playing the game, the downloads took anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours in the main town zones. Fortunately you don't have to keep downloading over and over again. Every once and a while you will have to download a couple of files here and there but those only take 3 minutes or so and they are very rare especially among zones you visit a lot. The only other time you experience longer downloads is when Guild Wars updates. You'll notice downloading small chunks from town to town until it goes away. All in all the game is designed for people of all types of internets to play smoothly so if you have a good computer you should run the game smoothly. (I have a friend with DSL, but an outdated graphics card and he runs it a little slower than me.) But the point remains the downloads go away eventually. Hint they seem to go away faster if you just ignore them (almost like an annoying brother or sister) WHITEY OUT!

The length of time it will take to d/l in each earea depends on whether you installed the client from the CD or from the net.

If you installed the client from the net you will need to d/l ALL the files for each area the first time you enter them and then new d/l's whenever they update an area.

If you installed the client from the CD you will already have the main files for each area on your hard drive. This means you will only d/l any files in area changes when they have updated the area your going into and you need to d/l the updated files.
